Arizona Heat: Zoldos Dominates Arizona 4A Division Two High School State Meet, Wins Two Events in All-American Times

TEMPE, Arizona, October 25. MICHAEL Zoldos of Arcadia brought the allure of All-American status to the Arizona 4A Division Two Championships, winning both of his events in All-American times.

Zoldos wowed the crowd in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events. Zoldos held off Palo Verde's Devin Price in the 200, winning in a 1:41.82 time. No one came close to Zoldos in the 500 freestyle, as he swam his way to victory (4:31.01) by a margin of more than 20 seconds.

Team Scores
Arcadia ran away with the women's title, accumulating 475.5 points throughout the course of the meet. Flagstaff placed second (322) while Notre Dame Prep settled for third with 268.5 points.

The roles reversed on the men's side, as Flagstaff took the men's team title with 343 points. Arcadia came in second with 257 points while Notre Dame Prep claimed the third spot with 176 points.

Women's Individual Results
The Arcadia relays accomplished the three-event sweep. The Arcadia 200 medley contingent of McKenzie Lee, Alyssa Sakurai, Melanie Gustafson and D'Arcy Schmidt joined up to win in a 1:58.60 time. Lindsey Stevens, Carter Graves, Terry Rinder and Schmidt blew away the 200 freestyle relay competition, out-distancing the second-place team by nearly six seconds (1:42.69). Graves set the tone for the 400 freestyle relay, leading off with a 54.26 split that put her well in front of everyone else. The relay grouping of Graves, Gustafson, Rinder and Stevens finished in a decisive first-place time of 3:43.13.

Stevens easily handled her competitors in both the 200 and 100 freestyles, posting times of 1:52.17 and 52.59, respectively.

Graves doubled up on the butterfly and backstroke events. She touched first in the 100 butterfly in 57.69 and also snared the first-place honors in the 100 backstroke (59.40).

Flagstaff's Lorraine Zannini broke up Arcadia's winning ways, earning the 200 IM (2:19.07) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.12) titles.

Schmidt showcased her athletic talent by taking first in the diving competition by a score of 446.55. She also placed second in the 50 freestyle. Chelsea Kelly from Arcadia earned the silver medal (354.45) while Heather Roths of Notre Dame Prep sported the bronze (296.45).

Men's Individual Results
Arcadia took both the first and last relay events of the meet. The Arcadia team of Chris Pickard, Scott Angell, Zoldos and Nick Cash clocked a first-place time of 1:41.02 in the 200 medley while the 400 freestyle relay grouping of Cash, Angell, Pinkard and Zoldos recorded a meet-best time of 3:21.14.

Amphitheater's Isaac Lunsford bested his opponents in the sprint events, claiming gold-medal times in both the 50 (21.79) and 100 (48.08) freestyles.

Nico Montano of Santa Rica outdove the field with a score of 381.35. Darek Loveless of Queen Creek earned the silver medal with a 315.85 score while Steven Stapley of Perry placed third (277.05).
