Anderson, Allen Impress High School Swimming Nation at CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships

LODI, California, June 14. ALYSSA Anderson of Granite Bay stole the spotlight at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championships, clocking the fastest 500 freestyle time turned in by a high school female this year.

Team Scores

Granite Bay's women compiled a 259 point effort en route to claiming the section team title. Rio Americano and Bella Vista placed second and third with scores of 249 and 223, respectively.

Jesuit edged out a formidable field at the top of the men's side of the competition with a first-place point total of 270. Davis earned the second-place honor with 262 points while Granite Bay followed closely behind in third with 261 points.

Women's Results

Anderson turned in head-turning times in both the 500 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Anderson's 4:42.20 effort stands as the nation's top time according to the All-American applications sent to NISCA as of June 11. Her time eclipsed the former mark of 4:46.80 set by Granite Bay's Stephanie Cota in 2002. Anderson also won the 100 butterfly with a scorching 55.20.

Karlee Bispo from Downey rounded out the double event winners with wins in the 100 freestyle (50.10) and the 200 IM (2:02.39). Bella Vista corralled the top honor in both the 200 medley relay (1:49.53) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.11).

Men's Results

Stanford-bound Jake Allen from Davis erased a 1979 record in his 50 freestyle en route to recording the nation's second fastest 50 freestyle time. Allen's 20.35 slightly edged the 1979 time set by Ryan Yantis of Cordova. Allen also captured the 100 freestyle with a 44.88 time. His 44.72 swim in prelims bettered the 1998 record of 44.74 set by Matt Smart of Lincoln of Stockton.

Former National Junior Team member David Seiler from Placer took the 100 butterfly title in a blazing fast 48.83, and he also bested the competition in the 200 freestyle (1:40.46). Davis went 2-for-3 in the relay events. Its 200 freestyle relay team won with a 1:27.51 and its 400 freestyle relay posted a winning time of 3:09.09.

Diving Results

Dominique Campora from Placer paced the women's diving field with a gold-medal winning score of 464.20. Sami McIntyre of Bella Vista finished second with a 443.00 score while Jessica Holden of Roseville took third with a 400.45.

Derek Roth of Granite Bay took the top honor in the men's competition with a 591.45 score. Miles Smith of Capitol Chris placed second with a 566.70, and David Schrenrier took third (452.85).
