America East Conference Releases Performers of the Week

BOSTON, Massachusetts, November 8. UMBC's Justin Bronson and Meghan Sackett have been named America East Men's and Women's Swimming Performers of the Week, respectively. While UMBC's, Jeff Salgado and Ashley Houghton earn Men's and Women's America East Diving performers of the week for the second straight week. The awards were announced Tuesday.

Bronson won all four individual events that he competed in last week and has not lost a race yet this season with eight victories under his belt. He took first in the 100-free (47.04) and 200-free (1:41.23) against Binghamton on Nov. 4, then won the 500-free (4:43.42) and 200-fly (1:55.68) against Colgate on Nov. 5. His times against the Bearcats are UMBC's fastest of the season. Bronson also anchored the winning 400-free relay against Binghamton and the 200-medley relay against Colgate.

Sackett won four individual events last weekend, taking first in the 100-free (53.56) against Binghamton on Nov. 4, then winning the 200-free (1:54.31), 500-free (5:05.23) and 200-fly (2:09.55) against Colgate on November 5. Her time in the 200-fly is UMBC's fastest of the season. Sackett also anchored the winning 400-free relay against the Raiders and the winning 400-medley relay against the Bearcats.

Salgado swept the diving events at both meets last weekend with scores of 295.20 on the one-meter board and 232.12 on the three-meter against Binghamton on November 4. He scored 282.90 in the one-meter competition and 290.62 in the three-meter event against Colgate on November 5.

Houghton also swept the diving events at both meets last weekend with scores of 257.76 on the one-meter board and 260.78 on the three-meter board against Binghamton on November 4. She scored of 239.54 in the one-meter competition and 255.45 in the three-meter event against Colgate on Nov. 5. Houghton has swept the diving events in four of five dual meets this season with nine victories.
