AUSTIN – Allison Schmitt unleashed for the second night in a row.  A day after moving to fifth all time in the 500-yard free, she became just the second swimmer all time to clear 1:41 in the 200-yard free.

Schmitt, who came into this meet ranked seventh all time with a 1:41.85 personal best from the 2013 NCAA Division I Championships, vaulted to second all time with a sterling time of 1:40.62.

Only Missy Franklin, the American record holder, has a better time with a 1:40.31 from the 2014 NCAA Division I Championships.

I’m thinking of a 4 X 200 relay with Ledecky, Manuel, Franklin, and Schmitt. I wonder what they could do.

Speaking of which, you guys forgot to put Manuel’s 1:41.15 from Pac-12s, Schmitty bumps her from 2nd to 3rd all time.
