Alabama Christmas Diving Invite: Day One

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama, December 18. THE Alabama Crimson Tide finished first and second in both events on the first day of the Christmas Diving Invitational being held at the Alabama Aquatic Center this week.

"I was a little surprised by how well we did considering we're just coming out of finals and we've been back working really hard the last three days and didn't really let up coming into today," Alabama diving coach Pat Greenwell said.

The women started the meet with the one-meter board and sophomore Carrie Dragland won the event with a score of 309.15 while junior Lauren Dunn took second with a 292.25. Georgia Tech's Hannah Krimm was third with 278.75 points.

"Carrie did a very nice job," Greenwell said. "and Lauren Dunn is starting to shine. She did some really nice things out there, some impressive things. I'm very pleased overall."

The men got things going off the three-meter board and junior Adam Booher came away with the win totaling 383.10 points with senior Aaron Fleshner taking second with a score of 381.05. Auburn's Kelly Marx was third with 376.40 points.

"I thought the guys did a great job," Greenwell said. "Aaron missed his last dive and Adam was able to finish off strong and get the win and that's one of the benefits of having two guys at that level, if one slips the other is there to pick it up."

Action resumes Friday at 10:45 a.m. with the preliminaries of the women's three-meter board and the men's one-meter event.
