Air Force v. University of Nevada- Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, January 19. THE UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams kept alive its win streak, as the Rebels swept a Mountain West Conference meet against Air Force on UNLV's Senior Day at Buchanan Natatorium. With their 176-123 win, the Rebel men completed their conference slate, and are 5-1 overall, and 4-1 in league action with their fourth straight win. UNLV's women meanwhile improved to 5-2, and 5-1 in the MWC with its fifth-straight victory, 149-117 over the Falcons.

The Rebels won 14 of 16 events in the men's meet, and were paced by three double-event winners. Jonas Anderson swept the breast events (100 – 56.47, 200 – 2:03.52), Richard Hortness won both the 50 (20.79) and 100 (45.72) frees, while Tiger Christian was victorious in the 100 fly (50.53) and the 200 back (1:51.20). Also claiming wins on Saturday was Kier Maitland in the 1650 free (15:49.05), Devin Phillips in the 100 back (50.69), Peter Lorring in the 200 fly (1:54.25), Johan Claar in the 500 free (4:36.50), David Seiler in the 200 IM (1:56.02), and Eli Tanimoto on the 3-meter board (281.10). The Rebels 400 free relay squad of Claar, Phillips, Tamas Bosnyak, and Richard Hortness also took first with a swim of 3:05.15.

For the UNLV women, six Rebels all won two events each. Bailey Kuestermeyer placed first in both the 200 (1:53.06) and 500 (5:04.51) frees, while Kim Bonney claimed the 100 free in 52.21 and the 200 breast in 1:53.06. Amanda Weinbrecht swept the back events (100 – 58.31, 200 – 2:07.00), while Ana Dangalakova was first in the 200 fly (2:10.20) and the 200 IM (2:08.39). Marina Sandback swam a time of 23.57 in the 50 free and 56.34 in the 100 fly for her two victories, while Wendy Williams took both diving events (1-meter – 235.05, 3-meter – 256.58). Other wins came from Lara Sreibers in the 1000 free (10:24.31), and Kelsey Clarke in the 200 breast (2:24.20).

UNLV also won both relays, as Weinbrecht, Bonney, Sandback, and Megan Hunt-Higgins teamed up for a time of 1:45.41 in the 200 medley relay. Hunt-Higgins, Bonney, Kuestermeyer, and Sandback then added a win in the 400 free relay, with a time of 3:29.03.
