Air Force Swimming Picks Up Three Wins in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – The Air Force swimming teams won three out of a possible five dual meets this afternoon in San Diego as both teams topped Incarnate Word and the men defeated UC San Diego as well. Kevin Jackson set two individual pool records to highlight a great meet for the Falcons.

The Air Force men’s and women’s swimming teams both earned victories at a multi-team meet in San Diego, Calif., Monday, Dec. 29. The men (14-4 this season) posted a 2-0 record with victories over UC San Diego (173.00-115.00) and the University of the Incarnate Word (192.00-96.00). The women’s team (3-6 this season) tallied a 1-2 record, defeating Incarnate Word (168.00-124.00) and falling to both UC San Diego (151.00-132.00) and San Diego State (141.00-135.00).

On the men’s side, junior Kevin Jackson set two new pool records, winning the 200 free (1:41.34) and in the 500 free (4:36.77). The 200 medley relay team of Devon Davis, Michael Barnosky, Ryan Dunne and George Frank won with a time of 1:32.55. Air Force swept the 100 back as Davis was first (51.21), Kris Tillery was second (52.18) and Joey Gebhart was third (53.29).

Barnosky won the 100 breaststroke (57.00) while Zach Knoche was third (57.77). Sean Ledford won the 200 fly (1:53.62). Jordan Dahle was second in the 50 free (21.06). Senior Ryan Dunne won the 100 yard free (46.02) while Dahle was second (46.42). Tillery was third in the 200 back (1:55.05).

Barnosky won the 200 breaststroke (2:07.61) while Knoche was fourth (2:10.54). Along with Jackson winning the 500 free, Faciszewski was second (4:41.08). Kevin Mitchell won the 100 fly (51.66) with Grant Temple coming in third (51.98) and Ledford fourth (52.13). Davis was third in the 200 IM (1:58.51). The team of Jordan Dahle, Michael Hannigan, George Frank and Ryan Dunne won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:06.44.

In the women’s meet, Genevieve Miller won two individual events, was second in one event and was part of a winning relay team. Miller won the 1000 free with a time of 10:22.24 while Sara Menke was second (10:26.96). Miller was second in the 200 free (1:52.88) while Kim Davis was third (1:53.84). Miller won the 500 free (5:03.22) as Clara Heffernan was fourth (5:11.14). The team of Jinan Andrews, Brianna Mount, Miller and Davis won the 400 free relay (3:36.15).

Freshman Elise Hart was fourth in the 100 back (59.79). In the 100 breaststroke, Kira Schlosberg was third (1:06.24). Jenna Tasic was fourth in the 200 fly (2:08.27). Hart was third in the 200 back (2:14.19) while Olivia Strom was fourth (2:16.47). Air Force took the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke as Davis was first (2:33.92) and Schlosberg was second (2:24.18). In the 100 fly, Maria Schroeder was fourth (58.55). Davis was second in the 200 IM (2:07.44).

The men’s swimming team is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 3 with a meet against UC Santa Barbara at 11 a.m. PT in Los Angeles, Calif. The women’ team faces San Diego on Sunday, Jan. 4, at noon PT in San Diego, Calif.
