Aidan Keen, a rising star in the U.S. junior ranks from Iowa City, will take his talents south to neighboring Missouri next fall to swim for head coach Greg Rhodenbaugh’s Tigers.

“Missouri is a team on the rise and I want to be a part of that,” Keen said. “Everyone seems dedicated to being the best they can be and they are excited for what is ahead. The coaches, the guys on the team, the city… everything was just a great fit for me. I can’t wait to be a Tiger!”

Keen will add some strength to the freestyle squad Rhodenbaugh is building at Missouri. He could be an immediate contributor in his best event, the 200 free, thanks to a lifetime best 1:38.45 from last December’s junior nationals where he was 12th overall. He also has a 4:30.63 to his credit in the 500 freestyle.

Keen won the state high school titles in the 200 and 500 freestyles last winter, and will be looking for a repeat to close out his high school career.

Keen will compete at next summer’s Olympic Trials in the 200 free, going into the meet with a lifetime best of 1:51.76. He’s just two seconds away from qualifying to swim the 400 free with a 4:00.69.

Keen appeared on SwimmingWorld.TV’s Morning Swim Show on July 18, 2014, with teammates from West High School that earned All-America status in the 400 free relay. That relay was part of an epic race with rival West Des Moines to conclude the Iowa high school championships.
