Administrative Bodies to Discuss, Address Concerns Regarding USOC Professional and Post-Graduate Centers

PHOENIX, Arizona, August 27. IN a letter obtained by Swimming World, a number of coaches nationwide have expressed concern regarding oversight issues with the USOC Professional and Post-Graduate Centers.

The coaches have requested that the USOC and USA Swimming add two requirements to the process by which a USOC Professional and Post-Graduate Centers is governed. First, the letter requests that each of these centers be chartered as separate clubs that stand alone from the hosting club. Second, the letter requests that coaches funded by USOC money only be able to coach the professional and post-graduate swimmers attached to the stand-alone club.

Swimming World has been informed that the USA Swimming Board of Directors, the Olympic International Operations Committee and the USA Swimming Steering Committee have added this letter, and its subsequent requests, to its agenda for its next meetings.
