ATHENS, Georgia, December 1. ALTHOUGH the U.S. Open and Texas Invitational rate as the premier meets of the upcoming weekend, the schedule also features a few more solid events. With so much fast swimming expected, this weekend certainly will be attractive to fans and will also provide a clue as to what to expect at next year’s NCAA Championships.
At the University of Georgia, Gabrielsen Natatorium will play host to the Bulldog Invitational. The Georgia women, ranked first in the nation, will headline the meet. Meanwhile, the Georgia men should also supply some quality times. Also scheduled to compete are the men and women from Virginia and South Carolina, the men from Tennessee and Harvard and the women from California and UCLA.
In South Bend, Indiana, the Notre Dame Invitational will be held at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. The Irish will be joined by the University of Indianapolis, North Dakota, St. Louis, Truman State, Utah and Wyoming. Meanwhile, the Ohio State Invitational will be held from Dec. 2-4 with Minnesota serving as the top team in the field.
