NC State won all three individual events during the second night of the men’s ACC championships in Greensboro, N.C., with a trio of defending champions all repeating their titles, and then the Wolfpack picked up a win in the 4×50 free relay.

Including both springboard diving events, NC State now leads with 523 points, with Louisville almost 100 back in second with 417. Third place at the moment is Florida State with 401.5 points.

NC State’s Anton Ipsen entered as a three-time defending ACC champion in the 500, and he recorded a monster effort to make it four-in-a-row. Ipsen never trailed and recorded a time of 4:11.23. That beat his previous best time of 4:11.73 from last year’s NCAA championships, and Ipsen moved to second in the country behind South Carolina’s Fynn Minuth (4:10.51).

Notre Dame freshman Zach Yeadon, one of the surprising breakouts of the dual meet season, picked up second place with his time of 4:12.74, and third place went to Louisville’s Marcelo Acosta in 4:13.70.

The Virginia Cavalier duo of Robby Giller (4:15.70) and Sam Magnan (4:15.71) took fourth and fifth, respectively, and the rest of the heat consisted of all NC State teammates of Ipsen: Eric Knowles (4:15.73), Gil Kiesler (4:17.95) and Danny Erlenmeyer (4:18.05).

NC State’s Andreas Vazaios pulled out to a big lead on the backstroke leg and then held off a swift back half from Virginia Tech’s Norbert Szabo to win his second straight conference crown. Vazaios touched in 1:42.43, just ahead of Szabo in 1:42.70.

Louisville’s Daniel Sos finished a second back of Vazaios in 1:43.86, good enough to claim the final spot on the podium.

Notre Dame’s Rob Whitacre took fourth in 1:44.06, followed by Louisville teammates Etay Gurevich (1:44.19) and Carlos Claverie (1:45.42). Florida State’s Max Polianski (1:45.59) and Virginia’s Bryce Keblish (1:46.28) also swam in the final. Keblish was first after the butterfly leg in 21.87, but he faded badly down the stretch.
