Women’s 1500 Free

It took until the final women’s event — and the longest one — to get the night’s first meet record.

Australia’s Lani Pallister crushed the field in the 1500 freestyle to win in 16:08.09, breaking the meet record set by Becca Mann of the U.S., who swam a 16:11.98 in 2012.

Pallister finished 16 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Mariah Denigan of the U.S. was second in 16:24.35, while Canada’s Emma O’Croinin was third in 16:28.79.

Lola Mull of the U.S. finished fourth in 16:40.03, followed by Japan’s Aoi Nakamura (16:43.20), Australia’s Chloe Gubecka (16:54.80) and Jacinta Essam (17:01.73) and Canada’s Octavia Lau (17:19.91).
