2012 London Olympics, Diving: Chen Ruolin Puts China Back on Top of Podium With Women’s 10-Meter Dominance

LONDON, England, August 9. CHEN Ruolin of China was in her own league during finals of the women's 10-meter platform event, scoring 422.30 to capture the gold medal in the event at the 2012 London Olympics.

Chen's final tally finished a stunning 55.80 points ahead of Australia's Brittany Broben, who took silver with 366.50 points. The victory for Chen gave the 19-year-old her fourth Olympic gold medal, having won a pair this year and a pair as a 15-year-old in Beijing.

The rest of the finale proved to be close with just 22 points separating silver from 12th place. Malaysia's Pandelela Rinong Pamg jumped from seventh after four of five rounds to earn bronze with 359.20 points. That's the first Olympic diving medal for her country, fitting since she was Malaysia's flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony.

Several medal favorites faltered. China's world silver medalist Hu Yadan wound up ninth with 349.50 points, while world bronze medalist Paola Sanchez Espinosa of Mexico finished sixth with 356.20 points.

China has won six of the seven gold medals decided, with the men's 10m platform to come.
