2011 FINA Water Polo World Leagues Begins European Group Play Today

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, November 16. THE 2011 edition of the FINA Men's Water Polo World League starts today with the first games of the three European groups. In Group A, Serbia will meet FYR Macedonia in Belgrade, while Spain will receive Germany in Barcelona. In Group B, Montenegro will play against Turkey in Budva, and Russia has its match with Romania in Kazan. Finally, in Group C, Croatia and Netherlands will play in Dubrovnik, and Italy will face Greece in Bergamo.

The five other rounds (home and away) for these groups are scheduled on December 7, 2010, and in 2011 on January 25, February 22, March 22, and April 19.

The composition of the European Groups of the 2011 Men's World League is as follows:

GROUP A – Serbia, Spain, Germany and FYR Macedonia
GROUP B – Montenegro, Russia, Romania and Turkey
GROUP C – Croatia, Italy, Greece and Netherlands

Moreover, tournaments will be held, in mid-May 2011 in Africa (Alger, ALG), Americas (location to be confirmed), and Asia/Oceania (in Christchurch, NZL, and in a city to be confirmed in Australia), while the Super Final of the competition will take place in Italy (city to be confirmed) on June 21-26, 2011.

The 2011 women's edition will start in May 2011 and will comprise three tournaments (Americas, Asia/Oceania, and Europe). The Super Final will be organised in Tianjing (CHN), from June 14-19.
