2005 French Winter Short Course Championship

DUNQUERKE, France, February 2. While the World Cup circuit was in swing elsewhere on the continent, the French held their own get together January 14, 15 and 16, getting some pretty hot swimming for wintertime.

Old timer Franck Esposito headlined the men’s performances and continues to remind the world that he is within striking range of the big win. He earned 985 FINA rating points with his 1:53.40 in his specialty 200 butterfly for the top swim of the meet.

Solenne Figues and multiple-Olympic medalist Laure Manaudou were tops on the woomen’s side with a 1:56.26 200 free(983 pts) and 4:04.36 400 free, respectively. Manaudou also got wins in the 800 (8:26.79), 50 back (:28.51) and 100 back (:59.66).
