SAO PAULO, Brazil, April 25. KATINKA Hosszu and Thiago Pereira posted impressive mid-season times in the 200 IM, while Cesar Cielo and Jeanette Ottesen Gray recorded the best 50 fly of 2014 for both men and women during the second to last night of finals at the Maria Lenk Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Hosszu demolished the field in the women's 200 IM with a 2:10.60, way ahead of Florencia Perotti's 2:18.37 and Nathalia Almeida's 2:18.39. With that time, Hosszu moves into a tie for fifth in the world this year with Great Britain's Aimee Willmott. Hosszu's previous best had been a 2:10.97 from the Flanders Cup in January.

Pereira put up an equally impressive time in the men's 200 IM, posting a 1:57.98 to move to seventh in the world this year. No one else in the field broke 2:00 in the final, as Thiago Simon finished second in 2:00.37 and Gabriel Ogawa touched third in 2:02.50.

A pair of non-Brazilian swimmers topped the women's 50 fly final, led by Denmark's Jeanette Ottesen Gray, who topped the heat in 25.41, the fastest time in the world this year. Ottesen Gray's previous best this year had been a 25.62 from the Denmark Long Course Nationals in February. She finished comfortably ahead of The Netherlands' Inge Dekker, who swam a 25.93 for second. Daynara Paula rounded out the top three in 26.64.

Sprint ace Cesar Cielo rocked the men's 50 fly final with a season best and world-leading time of 23.01, lowering his previous time of 23.44 and jumping six places into first. Nicholas Santos gave Cielo a run but wound up second in 23.23, good for sixth in the world this year and faster than his previous season best of 23.61 from the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series. Marcelo Chierighini placed third in 23.95.

Carolina Bilich captured the women's 400 free title in 4:13.93, just over two and a half seconds in front of Manuella Lyrio, who posted a 4:16.55 to take second. Poliana Okimoto rounded out the top three finishers in 4:18.52.

Leonardo De Deus, last night's winner of the 200 fly, picked up another win with a stellar showing in the men's 400 free. De Deus swam a 3:50.90 to nip Miguel Valente (3:51.36) at the wall, while Giuliano Rocco placed third in 3:54.55.

The women's and men's 400 free relays closed out the night. The Corinthians foursome of Katinka Hosszu, Natalia De Luccas, Isabela Silva and Jeanette Ottesen Gray topped the women's field in 3:43.16, while Pinheiros' Joao De Lucca, Leonardo Alcover, Bruno Fratus and Marcelo Chierighini had the best time in the men's race at 3:15.04.
