Katinka Hosszu Shakes Off Food Poisoning To Triple in Nice

NICE, France, January 31. AT the Nice International Long Course Meet, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu shook off a night of food poisoning to still pull off a victorious triple in the 50 free, 200 back and 100 fly in France. She even threw in a Hungarian record for good measure.

Hosszu opened up her night with a win in the women’s 50-meter free as she topped Lithuania’s Ruta Meilutyte, 25.19 to 25.26, in the sprint event. France’s Anna Santamans wound up third in 25.28. That’s a Hungarian record for the Iron Lady as she beat Evelyn Verraszto’s 25.28 set in 2009. Hosszu now owns six of the women’s long course records.
