Ryan Lochte Will Not Have Surgery, Aims To Return in August

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, November 8. RYAN Lochte is not going to have surgery to repair the torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) he took away from an encounter with an over-excited fan on the past weekend in Florida.

Lochte’s father and head of Daytona Beach Swimming Steve Lochte told the Daytona Beach News Journal that, after two doctors viewed the MRI’s of Lochte’s injury on Thursday, it was decided that the tear was not severe enough to require arthroscopic surgery. Instead, the 11-time Olympic medalist will rehab the injured left knee for approximately eight to ten weeks before resuming training in February.

This now definitely rules Lochte out for the start of the Grand Prix series, the USA Swimming Winter Nationals and Duel in the Pool in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to Steve Lochte, Ryan Lochte will aim to return by the Pan Pacific Championships set in August in Australia.
