Germany To Send 15 to Dubai For Junior World Championships

BERLIN, Germany, August 15. THE next generation of elite athletes to represent Germany in the swimming pool could come from the 15 slated to compete in this month’s world junior championships in Dubai.

The German swimming federation announced its lineup yesterday, with Achim Jedamsky serving as head coach. The team will look to improve on its performance from the 2011 junior worlds, when Germany only won three medals, including one gold from Christian Diener in the 50 backstroke. Diener is now on the senior German national team, having swum in the short course world championships last December. Alexandra Wenk also got a promotion to the senior team after 2011, and recently competed in Barcelona at the world championships.
