BERLIN, Germany, August 10. ALTHOUGH the deck is pretty chaotic, Swimming World special correspondent Pam Roberts had a chance to talk to a trio of the top men from night one at the FINA World Cup stop in Berlin.

Here's a few quick thoughts from Chad Le Clos, Conor Dwyer and Tyler Clary following their swims this evening.

Chad Le Clos

"I wasn't happy with my turns, so tomorrow I will have to do better. I'm happy with my time, I went faster than in Eindhoven. Only having a day in between Eindhoven and here was tough.

We had a long bus ride, and had to catch a train at 5:45 in the morning yesterday. But everyone's in the same boat. Tomorrow, I just need to be a lot faster than I was today. I have the 100 fly and the 200 IM. I'm just trying out the 200 IM, as my breaststroke is not quite there yet, but it will come together.

I'm going to do all World Cup stops, but I have about a week break after this one. And I need a break. It's been a long few months for me. I need a mental break as well. But it's been really great, I'm not going to lie.

The biggest change was from being a nobody to people suddenly knowing me (after my Olympic win in the 200 fly). It used to be 'Oh, who is this skinny kid? He won a race, good for him' and now everyone knows me. That's the biggest change, but I am happy with the way things are going so far."

Tyler Clary
"It's a little painful because you don't have a big meet like the world championships to draw your energy from (about the 400 free win). I'm really happy about that swim, I have been thinking about focusing more on freestyle for a little while, and that was really encouraging. I had a fever this morning and was just hoping to go under 3:39 so when I looked up and saw I was 3:36 I thought I was having delusions."

Conor Dwyer
"It's definitely a different thing to go from long course to short course in such a short amount of time, but I did short course all the time in college, so I'm used to it. And, I'm really happy with my 400 IM. Berlin has a beautiful pool, really fast."
