GENEVA, Switzerland, March 15. PLENTY of Swiss-record holders were on display at the Swiss long course national championships during day two of the competition.

After winning the 400-meter freestyle last night, Swiss-record holder Dominik Meichtry clinched the men's 200-meter free tonight in 1:49.65, edging David Karasek, who wound up taking second in 1:49.90. Jean-Baptiste Febo rounded out the top three in 1:51.18.

Annick van Westendorp captured the women's 200-meter freestyle crown in 2:02.77, coming a second off the Swiss record of 2:01.47 set by Danielle Villars last March. Villars wound up third tonight in 2:06.09, while Julia Hassler placed second in 2:03.75.


Swiss-record holder Alexandre Liess topped the men's 200-meter fly in 1:59.83, about a second back of his meet-record 1:58.63, while Nico Van Duijn took second in 2:00.79. Simon Rabold finished third in 2:03.33. Another Swiss-record holder Martina van Berkel dominated the women's 200-meter fly with a 2:11.52. Hassler took her second podium of the night with a 2:20.73, while Annamaria Giudici placed third in 2:23.76.

Ivo Staub touched out Jonathan Massacand, 26.82 to 26.84, in the men's 50 back, while Lukas Rauftlin finished third in 26.93. In another close call, Ivana Gabrilo edged Laetitia Perez, 29.78 to 29.95, in the women's 50-meter back. Laurence Fedrigo claimed third in 30.39.

Yannick Kaiser just missed his meet record of 1:02.23 with a winning time of 1:02.91 in the men's 100-meter breaststroke. Martin Schweizer touched second in 1:03.39, while Jeremy Desplanches earned third in 1:04.23. Sheena Cameron won the women's 100-meter breast with a 1:12.66, while Jennifer Bovay took second in 1:13.02. Sara Staudinger wound up third in 1:13.26.
