FINA Bureau Meeting Talks Test Results, Final Location for World Junior Championships

Istanbul (TUR), December 9, 2012. UNDER the presidency of Dr. Julio C. Maglione, the FINA Bureau held a meeting Sunday in Istanbul, Turkey. Open water swimming, test results from the London Olympics and the final location of the 2013 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships were discussed.

The Bureau was notified of the progress of a study into maximum water temperature for open water events. The study is being conducted by the University of Otago in New Zealand and the IOC, and results will be available in May 2013. The results of the research will be used in temperature recommendations for open water and marathon swimming events.

All of the post-testing of blood and urine samples from the London Olympics is complete. The FINA Bureau was informed that all samples taken from athletes in aquatic sports tested negative for performance-enhancing drugs.

The 2013 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships was moved to Dubai, UAE. The dates of the event are still to be confirmed.
