Denmark Holds Off Israel in 2013 European Short Course Championships Hosting Bid

HERNING, Denmark, October 1. THE city of Herning in Denmark held off a strong bid by Israel to secure hosting duties for the 2013 European Short Course Championships, according to Inside the Games.

“In Denmark we have a clear and ambitious event strategy and huge experience in organizing major international sporting events, including the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session and Congress in 2009 and the very successful UCI World Road Cycling Championships 2011,” said Sport Event Denmark Chief Executive Lars Lundov. “We now look forward to contributing to the 2013 LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships.”

The meet will be held at the Jyske Bank Boxen, also known as “The Box.” The facility has already hosted the 2010 European Women's Handball Championships, and is scheduled to host the 2014 European Men's Handball Championships as well.
