2012 London Olympics, Modern Pentathlon: Sarolta Kovacs, Samantha Murray Eclipse Olympic Record in Swimming Session

LONDON, England, August 12. HUNGARY's Sarolta Kovacs and Great Britain's Samantha Murray had an exciting finish in the 200-meter freestyle portion of the women's modern pentathlon event at the 2012 London Olympics today.

Kovacs touched out Murray, 2:08.11 to 2:08.20, for the win in the event with both surpassing the previous Olympic record in the event. USA's Sheila Taormina set the previous standard with a 2:08.86 at the 2008 Beijing Games.

The modern pentathlon includes five events: pistol shooting, fencing, 200-meter freestyle swim, show jumping and a 3K cross country run.
