LONDON, England, July 31. CHEN Ruolin and Wang Hao continued China's domination of the diving events by claiming the Olympic gold medal in the women's 10-meter synchronized diving event with an Olympic record 368.40 points.
Chen and Wang, the 2011 World Champions, posted a 25-point victory over Mexico's Alejandra Orozco Loza and Paola Espinosa Sanchez. China is on course to match its seven gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The Mexican tandem turned in a silver-winning tally of 343.32 points, for Mexico's second silver in as many days. On Monday, German Sanchez Sanchez and Ivan Garcia Navarro took silver in the men's 10-meter synchro platform event.
2008 Olympic bronze medalist Espinosa Sanchez celebrated her 26th birthday with the silver medal, while Orozco Loza debuted on the Olympic scene at just 15 years old.
Canada's Roseline Filion and Meaghan Benfeito gave Canada a bronze medal with 337.62 points in the event. Canada shot up from seventh in Beijing in the event, and picked up the country's second bronze of the meet. Jennifer Abel and Emilie Heymans took third in the women's three-meter synchro event on Sunday.
Australia's Rachel Bugg and Loudy Wiggins took fourth with 323.55 points, while hosts sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch took fifth with 321.72 points. Germany's Christin Steuer and Nora Subschinski (312.78), Malaysia's Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Mun Yee Leong (308.52) and Ukraine's Viktoriya Potyekhina and Julia Prokopchuk (299.64) also dove in the finale.
