LONDON, England, July 29. CHINA's WU Minxia won an unprecedented third straight Olympic women's synchronized 3-meter springboard title when she captured the first diving title on offer with partner He Zhi this evening.

Wu and He, the defending world champions, led wire-to-wire throughout the five dive list to win with 346.20 points, nearly a 25-point victory in the process. USA's Abigail Johnston and Kelci Bryant claimed a surprise silver for the U.S. with 321.90 points. Canada's Emilie Heymans and Jennifer Abel picked up bronze with 316.80 points.

Heymans, who previously won three Olympic medals in her career (two silver, on bronze) became the first diver with medals at four consecutive Olympics. Italy's Tania Cagnotto and Francesca Dallape placed fourth with 314.10 points, while Australia's Anabelle Smith and Sharleen Stratton finished fifth with 304.95 points.

Ukraine's tandem of Anna Pysmenska and Olena Fedorova finished sixth with 302.40 points, while huge support from the home crowd helped Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree of Great Britain to seventh with 285.60 points. Blagg, who turns 16 in October, is the youngest member of her country's diving squad. Malaysia's Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Jun Hoong Cheong finished eighth with 283.50 points.

This event was added to the Olympic program at the 2000 Sydney Games, with Wu diving to victory with Guo Jingjing in the 2004 and 2008 events.
