Polish Long Course Championships: Anna Dowgiert Cracks Top 15 in 50 Fly

OLSZTYN, Poland, May 15. THE Polish Long Course Championships closed with another triumph from Konrad Czerniak as well as a top 15 time in the women's 50 fly.

Konrad Czerniak topped another event this week, with a 49.35 in the men's 100 free. He fell short of the FINA A cut of 48.82 to earn another individual swim at the 2012 London Olympics. Kacper Majchrzak (49.69) and Marcin Tarczynski (50.36) finished second and third in the finale.

Katarzyna Wilk won the women's 100 free in 55.62, while Katarzyna Staszkiewicz (57.17) and Diana Sokolowska (57.18) placed second and third.

Kinga Cichowska edged Paulina Zachoszcz by the slimmest of margins, 1:10.95 to 1:10.96, in the women's 100 breast. Weronika Paluszek wound up third in 1:11.62. Dawid Szulich captured the men's 100 breast title in 1:01.82. Slawomir Kuczko (1:02.83) and Przemyslaw Gorczyca (1:03.14) completed the top three.

In non-Olympic events, Anna Dowgiert snared the women's 50 fly crown in 26.50. That swim jumped her to 14th in the world in the event. Katarzyna Staszkiewicz placed second in 27.85, while Karolina Szczepaniak picked up third in 28.04. Oskar Krupecki took the men's 50 fly title in 24.32, while Jacek Sokulski finished second in 24.45. Pawel Korzeniowski earned third in 24.59.

Donata Kilijanska won the women's 1500 free in 16:56.52, while Barbara Wasilewska finished second in 16:59.18. Justyna Burska picked up third in 17:00.76.
