Poland’s Mirela Olczak Suspended Six Months for Methylhexaneamine

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, April 11. FINA has announced that Polish swimmer Mirela Olczak has been suspended six months for a positive doping test during the Polish Grand Prix for the substance Methylhexaneamine.

The Polish Swimming Federation imposed six months of ineligibility for the infraction, dating back to Nov. 12, 2011. This means that Olczak will have completed her ban next month.

As reported repeatedly in the past, Methylhexaneamine is commonly found in supplements as dimethylamylamine, which is not listed as a banned supplement. A host of swimmers have been banned from six months up to two years by their national federations for positive tests based on this substance. Brazil's Fabiola Molina and USA's Sean Mahoney are included in those swimmers that have drawn bans.
