Australia State Teams Age Group Short Course Championships: Meg Bailey Triples in Final Session

CANBERRA, Australia, September 19. THE final session of the Australia State Teams Age Group Short Course Championships featured the completion of the 50 sprint knockout tournaments, as well as an impressive triple from 14-year-old Meg Bailey.

NSW's Bailey claimed the girls 13-14 100 fly title in 1:01.20, while NSW's Jake Hodgetts picked up the boys 14-15 200 free crown in 1:51.31. VIC's Chris Licciardi took home the girls 15-16 100 fly title in 1:00.59, while QLD's Regan Leong hit the wall in 1:48.23 to win the boys 16-17 200 free.

Bailey doubled up on the final session with a meet-record 2:16.50 in the girls 13-14 200 IM, while NSW's Ryan Leonard touched in 4:29.78 to claim the boys 14-15 400 IM. QLD's Taylor McKeown tracked down the meet record in the girls 15-16 200 IM with a 2:13.52, while QLD's Jared Gilliland won the boys 16-17 400 IM in 4:25.62.

NSW's Edward Marks topped the boys 14-15 100 fly in 55.84, while NSW's Hugo Morris lowered the meet record in the boys 16-17 100 fly with a 53.83. Bailey earned her third title of the finale with a 2:14.39 in the girls 13-14 200 fly, while WA's Brianna Throssell set the meet standard in the girls 15-16 200 fly with a 2:11.81.

VIC's Karlene Pircher posted a meet record of 2:30.06 in the girls 13-14 200 breast, while QLD's Max Muggeridge earned the boys 14-15 100 breast crown in 1:03.89. VIC's Jessica Hansen downed the meet record in the girls 15-16 200 breast with a 2:28.65, while NSW's Tim Cottam picked up the boys 16-17 100 breast victory in 1:02.78.

QLD's Jordan Harrison won the distance event for the day with a 15:18.36 in the boys 16-17 1500 free.

Sprint Knockout Finals
The final session of competition also featured the completion of the 50 sprint knockouts tournaments. WA's Brianna Throssell and QLD's Cameron McEvoy were the only two swimmers to win a pair of the knockout titles.
