Broward County YMCA Hires Matt Donovan as Competitive Aquatics Director

BROWARD COUNTY, Florida, July 10. SOMERSET Valley YMCA’s Matt Donovan has elected to take the competitive aquatics director position at the YMCA of Broward County in Florida after a lengthy stay in Somerset Valley.

Donovan had been the head coach of Somerset Valley YMCA since 2000, and has grown the program to more than 400 swimmers and a USA Swimming Silver Club status.

During his time coaching at the YMCA level, he has led swimmers to six team state titles, 20 individual national titles and 10 national records. He even led his squad to finishing as high as third in team scoring, and was named the 2013 YMCA Long Course National Championship Coach of the Meet.

Donovan will be taking over a revamped Broward County YMCA that will merge three separate branch teams into a single association-wide program. It will be Donovan’s charge to take that new organizational unit to new heights within YMCA swimming.
