Lindsey Swartz Picks Up Third Victory As BSS TYR Summer Classic Concludes

JACKSONVILLE, Florida, June 29. LINDSEY Swartz won her third individual event of the meet, while Omar Pinzon and Mario Todorovic won their second to wrap up the final day of racing at the Bolles School Sharks TYR Summer Classic.

Gisela Morales cruised to a commanding win in the women’s 200 back to start off the last finals session. Morales posted a 2:19.17 to defeat Tennessee Aquatics’ Ashley Darby by almost six seconds. Darby touched second in 2:24.99, while Annika Kollevoll of Bolles came in third at 2:26.98. Bolles’ Omar Pinzon took home the men’s 200 back title with a 2:01.74, five seconds ahead of YMCA Hub Fins’ Samuel Stewart (2:06.91). Jake Gibbons of Bolles rounded out the top three in 2:09.04.

Katarina Filova of Planet Swim Aquatics got to the wall first in the women’s 100 free final, completing the sprint in 57.73 to just out-touch Bolles’ Carolina Colorado, who came in .11 behind in 57.84. Kasey Schmidt, also of Bolles, placed third with a 58.84. Meanwhile, Mario Todorovic claimed the men’s title in 52.28, holding off teammate Julio Galofre, who touched in 52.95. Walker Higgins of Tennessee Aquatics posted a 53.28 to take third.

Lindsey Swartz of Pine Crest, already a double event winner last night in the 100 breast and 400 IM, added a third win to her collection with a dominating swim in the women’s 200 breast. Swartz touched in 2:36.94 to finish more than 11 seconds in front of Bolles’ Meghan Haila (2:48.10). Anna Banick of Tennessee Aquatics touched right behind in 2:48.23. The men’s 200 breast final turned out to be much closer, as Bolles teammates Melquides Alvarez Caraballo and Jorge Murillo Valdes went stroke-for-stroke for much of the race. At the wall, Caraballo got the win, 2:16.03 to 2:16.91. Anton Lobanov, also of Bolles, made it a 1-2-3 sweep for the Sharks with a 2:20.29.

In the boys’ 13-14 200 breast, Penn Charter’s Reece Whitley took down the National Age Group record with a 2:19.74, downing the previous record of 2:20.48 set by Gunnar Bentz in 2010.
