MESA, Arizona, April 24. THE championship final of the 200 breast at the Arena Grand Prix tonight in Mesa, Ariz., featured 17-year-old Gunther Cassell, who placed fifth overall in a time that nearly beat his lifetime best.

In this video interview, he talks about the new motivation he has for this long course season, saying he wasn’t expecting to go a 2:19.91 tonight. He said his teammates call him the “Seabiscuit of Swimming,” drawing comparisons to the famous horse who found another gear at the end of races.

He also talks about his experiences waiting in the ready room before the race, and describes his “awkward dance” that he did before the start.
