Madison Wright Breaks Meet Record At Indy Sectionals

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, March 29. KINGFISH Aquatic Club of Waterford’s Madison Wright broke her own meet record in the 200 fly on the third night of finals at the Speedo Indianapolis Sectionals.

Wright set the previous record as a fourteen-year old in 2011 and finally broke it after three years with a winning time of 2:11.34. Hannah Saiz of Schroeder YMCA Swim Team clocked in at 2:14.58 for second. Bailey Pressey of Indiana University touched in a personal best 2:17.97 for third.

Taylor Garcia of Byron Center started the night off with a personal best of 1:01.67 to win the women’s 100m back. Carmel Swim Club’s Amy Bilquist took second with a personal best 1:01.75. Her teammate Claire Adams posted a personal best 1:02.11 for third.

Michael Reilman of Firestone Akron Swim Team won the men’s 100m back with a personal best time of 56.86. Indiana University’s Robert Glover touched second with a personal best 57.17. Henrik Pohlmann of Dayton Raiders, a future Virginia Cavalier, clocked in at 57.75 for third.

Melissa Pish of Bloomington Waves Swim Team added to her win tally for the meet, winning the 400m free with a personal best 4:16.99. Stephanie Marchuk of Indiana University touched in a personal best 4:22.33 for second. Erin Earley of Hopkins Mariner Swim Team hit the wall in 4:23.51 for third and a new personal best.

Dayton Raiders’ Brock Turner, a Stanford recruit, won the men’s 400m free with a time of 3:55.22. Bradley Stamper of Indiana University claimed second with a personal best 3:59.75. His teammate Grayson Smith posted a personal best 4:01.23 for third.

Miranda Tucker of Livonia Community Swim Club won the women’s 100m breast with a 1:11.44. Katelyn Sauder of Waves Bloomington Swim Team clocked in at 1:12.21 for second and a new personal best. Dynamo Swim Team’s Kelsey Morgan took third with a personal best 1:12.93.

The top three in the men’s 100 breast all came from Indiana Unviersity. Tanner Kurz snagged first with a personal best 1:03.15. Marjin van Zundert touched second in 1:04.07. Donald Hurley finished third with a 1:04.42.

Grant Lewis of Avon Community Swim Team touched in 2:04.89 to win the men’s 200m fly with a new personal best. Frank Tapia Nadales took second with a 2:04.99. Henrik Pohlmann claimed third with a 2:06.05.

The Dayton Raiders (Brock Turner, Jackson Higgins, Henrik Pohlmann, Thomas Cope) won the men’s 800m free relay wtih a time of 7:37.27. Indiana University (Samuel Lorentz, Joseph Steinkamp, Bradley Stamper, Donald Hurley) posted a 7:38.68 for second. Indiana’s B-relay (Luke Lete, Grayson Smith, John Winck, Joseph Powell) took third with a 7:54.54.

After three nights of finals, Indiana University lead on overall points with 1103, followed by Carmel Swim Club (835) and Fishers Area Swimming Tigers (579).
