ITHACA, New York, March 23. HANNAH Cox of Upper Valley Aquatic Club put up an impressive double in the 100 free and 200 IM on the last night of finals at the Speedo Ithaca Sectionals.
Cox won the 100 free with a time of 50.71. Isabel Reis of Seacoast Swim Association took second wtih a 51.09. Jinan Andrews of Phoenix Aquatic Club, who will swim at the US Air Force Academy, touched third in 51.18.
Cox's second win of the night and sixth win of the meet came in the 200 IM. She dropped more than four seconds from prelims to win with a personal best time of 2:02.08. Jersey Gators' Caroline Wilson touched just behind her with a 2:02.15. Eva Crouse of the Aquabears hit the wall third in a personal best time of 2:02.59.
In the women's 200 back, Kyra Sarazen of Seacoast Swim Association touched first with a 1:58.85, just ahead of Portsmouth Swim Team's Linnea Lemerise, who clocked in at 1:58.88. Fourteen-year old Caroline Gmelich took third with a 2:02.76.
Cornell's Dylan Sali won his third event of the meet in the 200 back with a time of 1:45.51. Central Jersey Aquatic Club's Robert Whitacre, a future Notre Dame swimmer, put up a 1:46.15 for second. Bobby Smith of Islanders Aquatics posted a 1:49.46 for third.
Drew Modrov of the Hauppauge Athletic Association continued his momentum from winning the 50 free yesterday by winning the 100 free with a 44.40. New York City Aquatic Club's David Gleason clocked in at 44.90 for second. Long Beach Aquatics' Tim Cabasino touched third in 45.86.
Phoenix Swimming's Brian Poon put up a 1:49.10 to win the men's 200 IM. Scarlet Aquatics' Christopher Wang, a Virginia Tech recruit, hit the wall in a personal best 1:51.96 for second. Executive Swim Club's Matthew Grauslys took third with a 1:52.57.
The Scarlet Aquatics women (Emily Gorham, Marie Fagan, Kathleen McGrath, Gabrielle Baratta) won the 200 free relay with a 1:32.71. Jersey Gators (Shayna Hollander, Emily Wilson, Isabella Desimone, Caroline Wilson) placed second with a 1:36.46. Central Jersey Aquatic Club (Hayley Masi, Annemarie Schnoor, Katie Hammond, Helen Grossman) clocked in at 1:37.35 for third.
New York City Aquatic Club (David Gleason, George Tilneac, Andrew Raiola, Nicholas Konovalov) won the men's 200 free relay with a 1:24.42. The Hauppauge Athletic Association (Drew Modrov, Brandon Modrov, James Brittan, Nicholas Lauritano) took second with a 1:25.27. Phoenix Swimming (Yunseo Jung, Brian Poon, James Allen, Steven Baczek) touched in 1:26.21 for third.
