ORLANDO, Florida, February 14. DURING the consolation heat of the men's 100-meter backstroke at the Arena Grand Prix in Orlando, 14-year-old professional swimmer Michael Andrew tracked down yet another U.S. National Age Group record.

Andrew turned in a strong time of 57.13 as he finished second in the consolation heat to Hungary's David Folhazi. That swim bettered his previous record of 57.38 set at the Austin stop of the Arena Grand Prix last month.


With the record, Andrew has posted nearly 50 age group record revisions since first putting a serious hurting on the 10-and-under records as a youngster. This summer, he decided to turn professional as he and his family decided the homeschooled and hometrained swimmer never intended on going the collegiate route. There's also talk about the Andrew family moving from the Midwest to Florida, so Andrew is definitely enjoying his time in Orlando.
