Autograph Sessions, Youth Event Highlight Arena Grand Prix at Austin

AUSTIN, Texas, January 14. FANS attending the 2014 Arena Grand Prix at Austin will have the opportunity to meet medalists and world champions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at the Lee & Joe Jamail Aquatic Center at the University of Texas. In addition, Sunday’s finals session will feature a very special event with University of Texas grad and 7-time Olympic medalist Aaron Peirsol and children from the Austin swim community.

2013 NCAA Champion and multiple American record-holder Tom Shields and local World Championship medalist Laura Sogar will sign autographs on Friday night. On Saturday night, 2012 bronze medalist Caitlin Leverenz and 2013 National Champion Tom Luchsinger will sign.

Local product and 7-time Olympic medalist Aaron Peirsol will sign autographs shortly after the start of the finals session on Sunday night.

On Sunday evening, fans are asked to arrive 30-minutes early to witness the Arena Grand PrixView, featuring Aaron Peirsol and special guest Matt McLean. This special and inspirational event will showcase the two gold medalists swimming alongside 24 children from Longhorn Aquatics swim club in a once-in-a-lifetime event for the kids. The Grand PrixView will be emceed by NBC’s voice of swimming and three-time Olympic gold medalist Rowdy Gaines.

The meet will be held at the Lee & Joe Jamail Aquatics Center at the University of Texas beginning Friday, Jan. 17 and continuing through Sunday, Jan. 19. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. CT followed by finals at 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are required for all sessions and can be purchased at www.universityoftexas.edu/longhornaquatics/store.html, or at the Swim Center Store at the Aquatic Center.

The Arena Grand Prix Series consists of six meets around the nation. The 2014 schedule is as follows:

Arena Grand Prix at Austin (Texas) Jan. 17-19
Arena Grand Prix at Orlando February 13-15
Arena Grand Prix at Mesa April 24-26
Arena Grand Prix at Charlotte May 15-18
Arena Grand Prix at Santa Clara June 19-22
