AUSTIN, Texas, January 13. ALTHOUGH the swimming world got its hopes up with Ryan Lochte having confirmed entries in the Arena Grand Prix in Austin this weekend, it looks like it just turned out to be a tease.

Lochte was slated to compete in the 100 and 200 free as well as the 100 fly and 200 back this weekend, in what was initially his first meet back after a knee injury that occurred during a crazy fan experience a few months ago. Lochte's entries were confirmed and paid for, with no meet scratch in place.

SwimMAC head coach David Marsh, however, confirmed to Swimming World that Lochte would not be swimming in Austin this weekend, much to the displeasure of Lochte Nation.

Marsh did, however, confirm with Swimming World that Lochte's first meet back will be at the Arena Grand Prix in Orlando.

That's not to say that Austin won't have a loaded field of competitors in attendance. In other SwimMAC news, however, this is the return meet for Dax Hill, the former Longhorn All-American who currently makes Charlotte his post-grad home.

In total, there are 423 athletes scheduled to be in Austin with more than 30 Olympic gold medals slated to be at the meet.

Among the Olympic gold medalists that are included in the psych sheets are Matt Grevers, Allison Schmitt, Natalie Coughlin, Nathan Adrian, Ous Mellouli, Yannick Agnel, Cullen Jones, Tyler Clary, Anthony Ervin, Conor Dwyer, Jessica Hardy, Katie Ledecky, Matt McLean and Charlie Houchin.

A handful of other silver and bronze medalists will also be in Austin with Amanda Weir, Jimmy Feigen, Arkady Vyatchanin, Nikita Lobintsev, Lotte Friis and Caitlin Leverenz also heading to Texas this weekend in what is a star-studded affair.
