Swimming World Throwback Thursday Video: Katie Ledecky Provides Showstopper at CeraVe Invite

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey, January 9. SWIMMING World is back on the campus of Rutgers University for the CeraVe Invitational, streaming the event live for the fifth year.

One of the highlights of our coverage of the meet was watching Katie Ledecky swim the 800 freestyle just five months after she stunned the world with an Olympic gold medal in the event. Though the time was far off her winning time in London, it had the crowd in attendance fixed on her race for more than eight minutes.

Gillian Ryan of North Baltimore, a rising star in the distance freestyle ranks, gave Ledecky a race, providing a bit more interest in the event.

Ledecky is not racing in the CeraVe Invite this weekend, but Ryan is, and will likely be the star of the freestyle events.

Before you check in with our live stream, check out our Throwback Thursday video of Ledecky and Ryan racing for gold in last year’s meet!
