Caeleb Dressel Ties Own National Age Group Record at Junior Nationals

By David Rieder

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, December 12. IN just the first preliminary session of the Speedo Short Course Junior National Championships, Bolles’ Caeleb Dressel achieved yet another National Age Group record. He clocked in at 19.29 in the 50 free, tying the 17-18 boys’ mark he previously set earlier this year. Dressel could have a chance to lower the mark further in the final, as he qualified first for the evening’s swim.

Dressel crushed Brett Ringgold’s meet record of 19.73 set one year ago, one of three meet standards that fell during the first session of prelims. Splash’s Paul Powers joined Dressel under the old record with a 19.51, while Scottsdale’s Ryan Hoffer joined the pair under the 20 seconds with a 19.74 for the third seed.
