Phoenix Swim Club Finds New Home; Merging With Arizona Marlins

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 27. JUST days after word broke that the City of Phoenix cleared the way for the demolition of the historic Phoenix Swim Club property, Phoenix Swim Club has announced its new home.

PSC will be training and competing at a new facility being built at the Phoenix Country Day School, scheduled to be completed in August of 2014. Additionally, as part of PSC’s announcement, the club made it known that it would be merging with the Arizona Marlins with final details to be revealed at a later date.

This is great news for the Phoenix Swim Club (PSC), but still remains a loss for the City of Phoenix since the new facility is located in Paradise Valley, Arizona. The new location is only miles away from PSC’s current home. PSC’s current home housed the only 50 meter competition pool in the city of Phoenix. Keeping that facility in the city of Phoenix was a major challenge for neighbors and loyalist to the Phoenix Swim Club.

Phoenix Swim Club Announcement
Phoenix Swim Club is pleased to announce that we have secured a long-term commitment that will make Phoenix Country Day School’s (PCDS) new Aquatic Facility our new home. We are looking forward to partnering with PCDS to manage their soon-to-be built, state-of-the-art 50 meter pool at the PCDS campus on 40th street, a block north of Camelback. The new pool, scheduled to be completed in August of 2014, is less than two and a half miles from our existing facility. Remaining centrally located, we will be able to fully accommodate our entire club, from age-groupers, seniors, all the way through Masters, as well as our current partners like the Special Olympics and local high schools at the new facility.

The new facility will include spectator seating, office space, and separate locker rooms for girls, boys, men, and women. It will also include the latest in starting block design, lane lines, a 25-yard six lane warm-up pool, and the finest scoreboard of any swim facility in the state. PSC has worked closely with PCDS to ensure that all of the needs of our club are considered in their new facility. It is anticipated that the new pool facilities will be completed in August 2014 and more details will be forthcoming about our transition plan to the new pool. We will be at the current facility at least through the end of March 2014. Please refer to the links below for additional information regarding the facility. We will forward updates as they become available.

In a related and equally exciting development, the leadership of PSC and the Arizona Marlins met and agreed to go forward as one club under the Phoenix Swim Club name. PSC head coach Garrett McCaffrey along with Arizona Marlins leadership Mike and Ken Maczuga will be working out the details in the coming weeks. We are excited about combining with the Marlins, Arizona’s longest tenured swim club. The Marlins have a long and rich history in producing outstanding young men and women that excel in and out of the pool. The leadership at both the Marlins and PSC are excited about the opportunity that this merger provides to all parties involved.

Thank you all for your patience and loyalty throughout this process. The merger of Phoenix Swim Club and the Arizona Marlins, in a brand new world class facility, will allow us to continue our mission of making a difference in the Arizona swimming community and in the lives of our swimmers.

We want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. We as a club have a lot to be thankful for as we look ahead. Be safe….Go PSC!!!
