Arena Grand Prix, Minneapolis: Michael Andrew Downs Pair of National Age Group Records

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, November 14. YOUNG professional swimmer Michael Andrew, 14, set a pair of U.S. 13-14 National Age Group records on night one of the Arena Grand Prix in Minneapolis.

Andrew first took down his mark in the 100-yard fly with a 48.78 while taking 13th-place overall in the event. That time broke a tie between Andrew and Michael Domagala, who had co-owned the mark with matching 48.98s. Domagala now spends his time with the USC Trojans collegiately.

Andrew split that race 10.54, 12.37, 13.28 and 13.16 en route to his strong record.

Andrew returned in the 100-yard breast to take 17th overall with a 55.96. That time clipped the 2007 mark of 56.36 previously owned by Tanner Kurz, who is a sophomore at Indiana University this year.

Andrew split the 100 breast 12.30, 13.94, 15.11, 14.61 to become the first boy in the age group to break the 56-second barrier.
