Kendyl Stewart Accepts Invite to Represent Team USA in Duel in the Pool

LOS ANGELES, California, October 2. KENDYL Stewart, a sophomore at the University of Southern California, will race at the Duel in the Pool this December in Glasgow, Scotland, adding to a list of Americans that is high on college swimmers.

The last two editions of the Duel in the Pool were noticeably light on college swimmers, but so far, four of the six women and three of the four men on Team USA are current NCAA student-athletes. Stewart had a breakout NCAA championships in March, placing fourth in the 200 backstroke. She could be the top swimmer for the Americans in that event if such powerhouses as Missy Franklin, Elizabeth Pelton and Elizabeth Beisel turn down their invitations. She’s also a talented butterflyer and could score points for the Americans in either the 100 fly or 200 fly.

pumped to head to scotland in december for duel in the pool! #USA— Kendyl Stewart (@kendylstewart17) October 2, 2013

Stewart was a finalist in the 100 fly and 100 back at the USA Swimming nationals this summer, and placed seventh in the 200 back at the World University Games.
