Brendan Hansen Takes on Role As Coach At Lost Creek Aquatics

AUSTIN, Texas, September 30. AGE-GROUP swimming in the Texas capital got a big boost today with the news that Olympic champion Brendan Hansen has been hired as coach at Lost Creek Aquatics.

Hansen, who completed his swimming career last year with gold and bronze medals at the 2012 Olympics, will share his swimming expertise with the entire Lost Creek membership, numbering more than 300 swimmers, according to a press release that describes Hansen’s duties on the team as “partner, swim coach and mentor.”

Steve Jones, the founder and head coach of Lost Creek Aquatics, said he hopes Hansen’s presence on the team will instill an understanding of the long-term rewards swimming can offer. The team started in 2000, which was incidentally the same year Hansen arrived in Austin to begin his college career at the University of Texas.

During Hansen’s time at UT, he became one of the sport’s most successful breaststrokers. He owned the world records in the long course 100 and 200 breaststrokes in a span of about four years and competed in three Olympic Games.
