USA Water Polo Announces Second Phase of Celebrity “I Am Water Polo” Campaign

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, August 14. USA Water Polo released the second stage of photos in their “I Am Water Polo” campaign on Tuesday, featuring more celebrities who played water polo before they were famous.

Possibly the most notable name in this current list is Josh Elliott, who appears on “Good Morning America” each weekday on the ABC television station in the United States. According to USA Water Polo, Elliott was a member of Loyola High School’s water polo team in Los Angeles, one of the city’s most successful programs in California.

Elliott talks about what water polo means to him:

Danni Allen was the winner of the 14th edition of “The Biggest Loser” on the NBC TV station in the United States. A former goalkeeper at Clemson University, Allen lost 121 pounds on the show to win the $250,000 grand prize last March.

Julie Swail Ertel is the most-accomplished water polo player in the photo campaign, having earned a silver medal with Team USA in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. When she returned to the Olympic Games in 2008, it was as a triathlete. She continues to participate in triathlons and is a Masters water polo player.

Ryan Bittle is an American actor who has appeared on various television shows, including “All My Children,” “Dawson’s Creek” and “The Closer.” After playing water polo at Crescenta Valley High School, Bittle had a goal of playing polo at UCLA. But the acting bug bit, and he chose theater over polo.

Others in the second campaign include firefighters Tony Crenshaw and Ryan Penrod, Sea World aquatic mammal trainer Erin Bakey Brown, winery owner Ned Morris, physician/musician Todd Forman and photographer Peter “Poby” Pobyjpicz.

The first stage of the “I Am Water Polo” photo campaign took place in 2011 and featured “Married … With Children” actor Ted McGinley, WNBA player Jayne Appel and model Annalaina Marks.
