ORLANDO, Florida, July 18. THE Speedo Champions Series in Orlando commenced with a pair of distance freestyle timed finals along with a bevy of blazing relay performances.

Bolles' Ashley Neidigh clocked the third fastest career time in the women's 1500-meter freestyle with a 17:00.59. That nearly became her third time under the 17:00 barrier, as she has top two times of 16:53.26 from the 2011 Junior Nationals and a 16:59.43 from the 2012 American Long Course Championships in Austin. Neidigh is gearing up for her first semester at Auburn University after closing our her senior year as the fourth best recruit out of the state of Florida as ranked by CollegeSwimming.com. South Florida's Melissa Marinheiro raced to second in 17:04.87, while Hopkins' 14-year-old Erin Earley took home third in 17:10.15.


It wasn't his top time, but Germantown's Arthur Frayler managed to cruise home to victory in the men's 800-meter freestyle with an 8:16.80. He's been sub-8:00 in the past, but definitely demonstrated signs of some heavy training. Yeziel Morales checked in with a second-place time of 8:19.00, while Fort Lauderdale's Lance Rutkin walked away with a third-place time of 8:23.41.

In relay action, Saint Andrew's Tasija Karosas, Rachael Bradford-Feldman, Megan Moroney and Caroline Nava won the women's 200-meter medley relay in 1:58.52, while Westminster's Daniel Ramirez, Gregory Penny, Garland Sullivan and Anthony Barbar took the men's 200-meter medley title in 1:42.42.

T2's Justine Mueller, Elise Haan, Ksenia Golovkina and Erika Erndl blitzed the women's 200-meter medley relay in 1:45.53. Erndl notched a swift 25.06 anchor leg to bring home the title. Westminster swept the men's relays as Ramirez, Daniel Robbins, Sullivan and Barbar clocked a 1:32.87 for the men's 200-meter free relay victory.
