Yezan Alsader Captures U.S. National Age Group Record in 400 IM

FORT MYERS, Florida, June 14. YEZAN Alsader broke the 11-12 national age group record in the 400 long course individual medley today at the Gulf Coast Swim Team Summer Invitational, getting under the five-minute barrier for the first time.

Alsader, 12, posted a 4:54.24 in the prelims to dip under the seven-year-old record by Nicholas Caldwell of 4:54.92. He went for the record again in finals, coming up short with a 4:57.24.

Alsader, who has swum for the Bloomington-Normal YMCA Waves in Illinois since he was 8 years old with head age group coach Heather Fort, won this event at the same meet last year as an 11-year-old, posting a 5:08.14.
