PHOENIX, Arizona, April 10. THIS past weekend, the boys from Irvine NovAquatics broke the 11-2 400 freestyle relay National Age Group record.

The quartet, consisting of Owen Kao, Shawn Lou, Kevin Tu and Hunter Hitchens, won the event in a remarkable 3:30.75, a few hundredths faster than the previous record set by Oregon's Tualatin Hill Swim Club last year (3:30.83).

The impressive NOVA relay team also ended the meet with a bang. The boys won the 200 freestyle relay in a 1:37.03, just over two tenths off the NAG record (1:36.80) set in 2012 by Eagle Swim Association. The time was nearly three seconds under the meet record (1:40.02) set in 2004 by DACA.

Hunter Hitchens, who split a remarkable 50 point anchor split on NOVA's NAG record-setting 400 freestyle relay, and won a number of individual Far Western titles, including the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle, talked to Swimming World TV on the last night of finals:
