COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 12. USA Swimming Foundation recently announced that Brendan Hansen has been added to their Board of Directors. The Board supports the work of the USA Swimming Foundation through mission-based leadership and governance.
Hansen is a six-time Olympic medalist and former world record holder in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke. He was selected captain of the US London Olympic team, where he won an individual bronze and relay gold. Prior to the Olympics, Hansen announced that he and his wife are expecting their first child.
"Brendan Hansen is a champion in the pool and in life," USA Swimming Foundation Board chair Bill Maxson said. "He is a thoughtful, intelligent and committed individual who brings an excellent perspective as well as a true commitment to helping further the USA Swimming Foundation's mission. I am so pleased to welcome Brendan to the Board."
Once Hansen begins his position, he can expect to serve as a policy maker, develop and implement the Foundation's plans and actively participate in the Board's annual evaluation and planning efforts. He will also act as an ambassador for the organization.
"Swimming has meant so much to me, as well as to my family, and I look forward to giving back to the sport that has given so much to me," Hansen told USA Swimming. "As a new dad-to-be, I am especially excited about the USA Swimming Foundation's efforts to help kids learn to swim, and I look forward to contributing to the future of my sport at the grassroots and national levels."
The USA Swimming Foundation also serves as the home for US National and Olympic Team Alumni reunions and regional events.
