USA Swimming Tabs Eric Hansen, Chuck Batchelor as Worlds Team Head Coaches

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 10. USA Swimming today announced the coaching staff for the U.S. Team that will compete at the FINA Short Course World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, December 12-16.

Eric Hansen will lead the men's team while Chuck Batchelor will be the head coach of the women's team. Hansen is the head coach at the University of Arizona and most recently was the women's head coach at the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China. Batchelor is the head coach of Bluefish Swim Club and was the U.S. women's team head coach at the Pan American Games in 2011.

The men's coaching staff will also include assistant coaches Tony Batis of Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, University of Wisconsin Head Coach Whitney Hite and University of Michigan Associate Head Coach Josh White. The assistant coaches on the women's side will feature Western Kentucky University Head Coach Bruce Marchionda, Asphalt Green Head Coach Rachel Stratton-Mills and Mission Viejo Nadadores Head Coach Bill Rose.

The event in Istanbul will be the 11th FINA Short Course World Championships, an event which has been held every two years since the inaugural Championships in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in 1993. The event in Istanbul will take place at the Sinan Erdem Dome, which is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey.
