Open Water Ace Emily Hanson Added to Mission Viejo Nadadores Staff

MISSION VIEJO, California, September 14. COACH Bill Rose and the Mission Viejo Nadadores announced that Emily Hanson has been appointed to the position of Senior Division Coach. Emily comes highly recommended by some of the top coaches in the U.S. while combining her own national and international experience with a youthful enthusiasm and fresh ideas.

“We had a tremendous response to our request for applications for this position, with many highly qualified coaches applying,” said Coach Bill Rose, the long-time head coach of the Nadadores. “We believe Emily is the very best fit for our needs and expectations, and we are very pleased and excited to welcome her to our staff,” he continued. “Emily will be a great role model and mentor for our swimmers.”

A former USA National Team member and NCAA All-American, Emily represented the United States in the 5K and 25K in the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome. She also finished 6th in the 25K at the 2010 World Open Water Championships. Most recently she has been coaching the 11-14 year-olds at the Bloomington-Normal YMCA in Illinois.

Upon accepting this position, Emily said, “It's an honor to be a part of the Mission Viejo family. The Nadadores have an amazing history of swimming excellence, and I could not be more excited to grow and learn from Coach Rose and his staff.” Emily is a 2010 graduate of the University of Michigan and a native of Bloomington, Illinois.

She will begin her duties on the Mission Viejo deck on September 20.
